About Us

The most important thing you need to know about us is that we both were once living in darkness. We were enemies to the Almighty God. But because He is rich in mercy, God chose to pluck both of us out of the darkness, wash us in the blood of Christ, clothe us in Christ’s righteousness, and now calls us His children. We are still sinners. But we are now saved sinners. And we trust that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are being refined day by day, and becoming imitators of our Holy God!

Jesus paid it all. All to Him we owe.

About Us: We met at RUF at USC in October of 2005. We started dating that December. We got engaged in Charleston, SC on January 5th, 2008. And we married on December 20th, 2008. We got our dog Abe in the spring of 2009.

Shortly after celebrating our first year of marriage we learned we were pregnant with our first child, and on September 14, 2010, the Lord blessed us with the arrival of our son Micaiah Harrison Traylor.

About Hart: He graduated from USC in 2007 with a major in history and a minor in religion.

Following graduation he worked at Christ Church of the Carolinas for 2 years, where he did a lot of office administrative duties as well as media related things. In late August of 2009 he resigned from his position at the church, and on September 1st began working for The Mather Company (a real estate company his friend Charlie Mather started). He serves as President of Mather Property Management and Vice-President of The Mather Company, as well as, a project manager for TMC overseeing houses they flip. He also manages the company's website, and handles the advertising of the company and houses they have listed (such as the production of virtual tour videos, flyers, social media, etc). In November of 2010, he became a state licensed real estate agent. Contact him if you need to buy or sell a home! He loves to do music. He helps lead the music at their church, Columbia Crossroads Downtown. He used to write and record music back when he was in college (aka, when you used to have a lot of extra time on your hands!) You can check out some of his music here. To read posts by Hart, click here.

About Vanessa: She graduated from USC in 2009 with a degree in Spanish.

She taught 4th grade during the 2009-2010 school year at Heritage Christian Academy. You can catch a glimpse of what her classroom was like if you go to her blog: Mrs Traylors Class Blog. After the birth of their son Micaiah in September of 2010, she stayed at home taking care of Micaiah. She loves being a wife and mom and taking care of her "boys". In August of 2013, Vanessa began teaching 5th grade part-time at Arrows Academy! She absolutely LOVES her job!!!

She also loves to sew, and runs her sewing and craft blog; Designs By Sessa. She makes lots of hand-made stuff for our family and friends.

About Micaiah: Micaiah was born on September 14, 2010. He is our first child. The name Micaiah came from the book of  I Kings chapter 22. Micaiah was a prophet who feared and loved the Lord, and was a courageous man because he was willing to speak God's words even though the world didn't want to hear from God. You can read more about his name and why we chose it here.
Micaiah is such a sweet and tender-hearted little boy, who loves his mama, and adores his daddy! He is a natural leader and isn't afraid to go after what he wants! We love seeing him grow and our prayer is that he grows up to know and love Jesus as his Savior! Cai constantly surprises us and makes us laugh!

About Abe (the dog): Abe is a golden retriever that we got as a puppy in the spring of 2009. Hart's mom came across an ad by a family selling a newborn puppy for $100 (including a kennel, a dog bed, a bag of dog food, and several toys). When we heard about this deal we jumped at it! Abe is a HUGE dog. He is roughly 100 pounds. Mix in with that the fact that he is still very much a puppy, and you get a huge dog who gets excited very easily and has a hard time calming down. He can definitely be a nuisance, but we still love our pup-pup. We are grateful he and Cai are best buds!

Other Family Details:
We started the adoption process through South Carolina DSS in January of 2012. We got approved at the end of September 2012, and waited for close to 9 months after Adoption approval, before deciding to become Foster Parents! We currently have our Foster Care license and received our first placement in August of 2013. You can read a lot about that journey under the Foster Care/Adoption Tab at the top of the blog, but primarily how tough it can be, some frustrations, even getting matched with a baby, only to have the birth mom change her mind, and more.  We pray that we have the opportunity to adopt some of the children that come through our home! We call our foster children our "beloved babies" and pray for Beloved "B" every day.

Oh, and if that's not enough... God has blessed us with our 2nd son due March 27, 2014! We cannot wait to welcome Judah Eastman Traylor to our family!
